Transactions

Overview

The Transactions page is the central hub for viewing and managing all transactions that flow into Abacus from integrated source systems such as Netsuite. This comprehensive view enables you to search, filter, and monitor all financial transactions processed through the Abacus, providing complete visibility into your client's transaction history and tax calculations. Transactions are linked to filings based on their invoice/reporting dates and the relevant transaction type.

  • Search by invoice number or customer name
  • Filter by date range, jurisdiction, transaction type, and more
  • Export transaction data for reporting

Data Source

Primary Data Origin: The primary source of transaction data is your client's integrated business systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Shopify, Stripe, and other ERP or e-commerce platforms). When integrations are configured, transaction information flows automatically from these source systems into Abacus, where it is processed through the Tax Engine to calculate applicable taxes and validate compliance.

Manual Transaction Entry: For clients without integrations, transactions can be created directly in Abacus using the Calculator feature. However, it's important to note that manually created transactions and their associated data will not sync back to the client's accounting software. Manual entry is a one-way process into Abacus only.

Integration Synchronization: For integrated clients, transaction information updates automatically as new transactions are created in the source system, ensuring Abacus always reflects the current transaction data from your client's operations.

Transaction Source Tracking: Every transaction includes a source identifier that shows where it originated (e.g., "QuickBooks Online", "Xero", "Calculator", "Shopify"). This source information is displayed in the transactions table and affects certain behaviors, such as deletion permissions.
