Customer Information Card
The main customer card provides comprehensive details:
Header Section:
- Customer name (prominent display)
- Customer type badge (with classification)
Tax Information:
- Tax Number: Editable field with inline edit button (VAT Only)
- Click pencil icon to edit
- Save changes directly
- Validation applied for tax number format
Address Details:
- External ID - Customer ID from source system
- State - Geographic state/region
- City - Municipal location
- Zip Code - Postal code
- Street - Physical address
Adding VAT Number
For certain customers, they might have a VAT Number if they are a business. Abacus allows users to populate the VAT Number of the customer. To change or update the VAT Number, use the pencil next to the tax number field.
The tax number might have implications for your tax determination and treatment as the customer might qualify for B2B. Reach out to your Tax Associate to understand this better
Exemptions Card
Purpose: Displays all exemptions associated with this customer
Visibility: Only shown if user has exemption_view permission
Information Displayed:
- Complete exemption history (active and inactive)
- State/region-specific exemptions
- Exemption types and classifications
- Validity date ranges
- Current status indicators
Create Exemptions
Users are able to add exemptions to the customer using the "Add Exemption" button. This will open a modal to allow the selection of the state that the exemption is for. Refer to Exemptions for more details on the creation of Exemptions.
Transactions Card
Purpose: Shows complete transaction history for the customer
Data Source:
- Integrated Clients: Transactions are automatically imported from your client's integrated source systems (ERP, accounting software, e-commerce platform)
- Non-Integration Clients: Transactions can be manually entered directly in Abacus
- Note: Manually entered transactions will NOT sync back to external accounting software
What You'll See: The transactions table displays all financial activity associated with this specific customer, including invoice numbers, dates, transaction types, amounts, tax rates, and exemption application status.
